Faith: The Sci-Fi RPG

Post by Ravenpolar » Thu Jan 14, 2016 11:18 pm

The labyrinth, the vastness of the universe. As part of the mighty Corvo, the proud Iz'kal, the feral Raag or the as versatile Humans, players will take part in amazing stories all around the universe. During those stories they will explore the Labyrinth in search of new worlds, found new colonies, fight in the power struggle between the Corvo and the Iz'kal and their Gods, or stand by waiting to enjoy the spoils.

Faith is the new RPG with boardgame overtones and luck management gameplay where each player has a deck of cards to determine their own destiny. Decide that not much is at stake, play the low cards. Want to succeed at all costs, play the court cards. This is a game about storytelling how you want to, not about letting the dice decide.
All of the artwork is in front of the players to evoke the feel and emotion of the settings and players will become immersed in the characters, the story and the setting.

Faith: The Sci-Fi RPG
Rotation: May/June
Interested Players (4 or 5 max): Pete, Will, Sean, Dan, Niall

Wow... 4 players already, hopefully I can pull this off as a cool game {no pressure Phill, stay calm....}

Just so you are aware of what I have planned for the setting, currently i'm looking at extending the introductory scenario which places a team of misfits on a ship in the Labyrinth as the game opens. Each character has a reason for being on an old ship, with no plans to return home any time soon or plans to find some kind of paydirt that will improve their life or stop issues from their old life catching up with them.
The sample characters all have a mini backstory that relates to this but id rather give every player the opportunity to decide for themselves. So if you could all think of a reason why you are a long way from home, with a bunch of people you might not normally choose to be in the company of and living a life that mirrors that of an old time drifter.
Some suggestions could be running from something or someone. Trying to find something or someone. Owing something to someone or plain just the adventurous sort, exploring the galaxy.

I am surprised that you can freely download the rules in PDF.

Of course it is one of those games which is heavily improved by the card decks and bits.

You can also use a basic deck of poker cards if you don't have the set so in theory you can play the game without having to purchase anything.
But it is worth it :D

Seeing as the club now owns a copy, anyone who does not make it into Phil's game can put in a request in "player requests". If there is enough interest in sure someone else (maybe me....) could run for a second party. Then maybe Phil will get a chance to play it as well as GM.

Thanks for running Phill, I certainly enjoyed the story you provided in Faith's setting and the interesting challenge of knowing when to use or hold those precious high cards!
As always when it comes to your games, looking forward to more in the future.
